We currently have 2 projects which consist of a Koala exchange between China and Australia in which we were a vital part in facilitating the exchange.

Koala Exchange
We are excited to be a part of the Koala exchange between zoos in Nanjing, China and Adelaide, Australia.
The koala facility of Nanjing Hongshan Forest Zoo covers an area of 800 square metres, it consists of indoor exhibits, outdoor exhibits, medical examination room, eucalyptus preparation room, eucalyptus refrigerator and other management areas. Nanjing Hongshan Forest Zoo delegated caregivers and veterinarians to German and Taipei to learn koala husbandry and medical care technology. Zoo professionals translated koala husbandry manual and koala medical care book. To guarantee eucalyptus supply，Nanjing Hongshan Forest Zoo established long-term cooperation with Guangzhou eucalyptus plantation and Kunming eucalyptus plantation. Nanjing Hongshan Forest Zoo also set up a plantation for eucalyptus planting in Nanjing Baguazhou area.
Nanjing Hongshan Forest Zoo had met the koala care requirements according to the australian government appointed expert assessment. Nanjing Hongshan Forest Zoo, Darling Downs Zoo and The Australian Department of the Environment and Energy signed Agreement. Then 2 koalas from Darling Downs Zoo arrived at Nanjing Hongshan Forest Zoo on Feb 10th, 2018.
The two koalas quickly adapted to the environment upon their arrival at our zoo. Under good feeding and medical care, their conditions remained stable, and they soon successfully reproduced offspring in our zoo. Koala Merindah is one of the two koalas, female, was born in Australia in March 2015
